Spanish Ventriloquist: Senor Wences

Spanish ventriloquist, Señor Wences' popularity soared in the 50s. He was renowned for his speed, skill and grace. Watch as he switches his own voice, to that of his puppets with great speed. I especially liked the gruff-voiced pedro - a disembodied head in a box. But was also amazed to see how he made use of the telephone, whereby the ventriloquist played both sides of a telephone conversation. For the 'caller' he simulated a filtered voice, as it would sound over a telephone wire. Take a look, I'm sure you'll be just as impressed as I was:
