The Charm of the Faroe Islands in 12 Stunning Photos

Are you familiar with the Faroe Islands? The natural beauty of this little-known European region is often compared to that of Iceland, its next-door neighbor. This archipelago consists of 17 inhabited islands and many smaller reefs and islets located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is a self-governing region that’s officially part of the Kingdom of Denmark with a population of just 50,000 people and more than 70,000 sheep.

In his latest photo series, photographer Lazar Gintchin shares his experience of visiting the Faroe Islands.

The lush green fields, the rugged cliffs veiled in fog, and the surrounding indigo blue waters give the islands a mysterious and solitary beauty, the likes of which you cannot see in any other place on the planet. You will also see the charming traditional Faroese cottages that have grass roofs, which look like the dwellings of gnomes or other mythical creatures.
